Who Ya Gonna Call?

I've been busy making art and going on ghost tours.  Yup. Ghost tours. Last night my spouse, my sister, my son and I boarded a bus from Chicago Hauntings for an informative and very enjoyable two hours of facts, freaks, and FUN.  I highly recommend it and would love to do another tour of different locations sometime soon.  The highlight for me was stopping at the site of the Eastland Disaster.  For those unfamiliar with the tragedy or my family involvement, you can read about it here. This was the first time I had the opportunity to see the place where my great-uncle and 843 others souls lost their lives.  It was a chilling and sobering experience.  My sis took a photo of the plaque that stands in remembrance of the lives that were lost.
Back on the art front, my creative muse has been very active. SO many ideas ricocheting around inside my head that it's difficult to focus on just one project.  I did manage to focus long enough to finish up a few albums:

These beauties are looking for a new home; check them out before they disappear.

Just one more thing, this time on the blog front: I was asked to be part of a new blog that features Illinois artisans.  I'm proud to be part of this group of talented individuals and I'll be posting regularly.  Take a peek at Homegrown Illinois and have a lovely, creative weekend.

  4. Thanks for the kind feedback, Karen. Albums are so much fun to create, and the altered journal on your blog turned out great. We have something else in common...I also love boxes. I'm swooning over your salesman sample! Something about the endless surprises that may lurk inside. Thanks again for stopping by and commenting!

  5. Laure - Just a quick note to tell you I’ve nominated you for a “Versatile Blog Award”!

Don’t know what that means? Well, neither did I when I received this award last week from a fellow blogger named Isobel (http://coldhamcuddliescalling.blogspot.com/) in Warminster, Wiltshire, United Kingdom. I, of course, wanted to know more, so I did some research. I found a website that helped a lot. I also began to notice, as I surfed around, the “Versatile Blog Award” button on some blogs I was visiting. Visit my blog to see the announcement of your blog as a recipient of this award.
Why you, you may ask? Just because, I say! Because your blog caught my attention and inspired me in some fashion. It might have been the way you write, the great photos you take, or the fact that you motivate me to act, to be. Perhaps it was the look and feel of your blog overall. Maybe because you seemed genuine in some way, not self-serving, and not necessarily writing to accumulate “followers”, but rather with passion. Whatever my reason, a good chance for me to say “thanks” for delighting me through your blog!

I couldn't not add you to my list - your passion for all you do is so evident in your work. Thanks!

  6. Karen, I don't know what to say. I'm honored. Beyond honored. I'm working on a post and hope to have it up in the next day or two. Just wondering, did you contact each of your picks individually or did you just link to your original post? Thank you again for your kind words and your nomination, it made my whole day a bit brighter!

  7. I contacted each individually - and have to admit, I did that because I haven't yet figured out how to link to the post. (or I should say haven't taken the time to do so!)

I meant it most sincerely - when I come to your blog, I leave it a happier person! :))
