So I was sitting here feeling like a lazy blogger, emphasis on lazy. I mean, TRUE bloggers post with some regularity. TRUE bloggers offer exciting give aways or at least a tutorial here and there. TRUE bloggers actually know how to make their blogs look cool. My blog feels more like a trusted friend who's always there for me. Since I process feelings and ideas verbally, I write to understand myself or my situation or sometimes just to get the words out. Imagine my surprise to discover that the lovely Karen of The Well Seasoned Nest nominated me for the Versatile Blog Award. I KNOW! That's just what I said! What the heck is a Versatile Blog Award? Basically it's blogger to blogger recognition for a job well done. Thank you, Karen, for including this handy dandy little link where I learned all about this honor. And I am honored. First of all, I'm amazed that anyone actually reads this. Seriously, how many jillions of blogs are out there? Just to be found in the vast blog landscape is amazing enough, but to be nominated as a versatile blog? Whoa. Pretty humbling. Karen, thank you for the nomination. I am beyond thrilled. Dazed and confused is more like it. Here's my favorite compliment from Karen about why she likes Chaos and Art: "maybe because you seemed genuine in some way, not self-serving, and not necessarily writing to accumulate followers but rather with passion." Genuine and passionate are two words that have frequently been used to describe me. I am indeed both of these things and I guess that comes across in my writing. What you see is what you get, always. The real deal, nothing fancy or fake here. Although if I knew how to write to get a few more followers I might consider it. Also, fake or not, I must confess that if I ever have an extra five grand lying around I would SO get my eyes done. Damn you, genetics, and the puffy bags I've had since birth. But I digress. As for passion, life is too short to be apathetic. Find something you're passionate about and start living.
One of the duties I need to fulfill in order to be an official award recipient is to reveal 7 things about myself. Only seven? Piece of cake. So without further ado, here are my 7 revelations:
1- I'm a junk girl. Broken, rusty, vintage, and discarded are words that make my heart beat a little bit quicker. I started "garbage picking" at a very early age and continue to do so at fleas, estate sales, and the occasional dumpster. Ticket stubs, letters, broken jewelry and all things long forgotten find their way into my heart and my art. I feel the energy these items still possess. I especially love vintage family photos. Who were these people and what were their stories?
2- I've always been able to look a something and see what it could be, not necessarily what it is. I see possibilities, whether it's a broken piece of furniture or a broken spirit.
3- I was put on earth to help people journey from this world to the next. To be allowed to witness life at such a fragile and sacred time is a blessing I'm thankful for every single day.
4- I was an infertility patient for six years. My two kids are the best gifts I've ever received and the greatest joys in my life.
5- Call me an old hippie but I really do believe love is the answer. To any question.
6- I laugh way too loud. Sometimes people actually jump when I laugh, which makes me laugh even louder.
7- I can't tell a joke to save my life.
So there you have it, my 7 revelations. I also need to pass the Versatile Blog Award on to fifteen fellow bloggers. Share the love, I say, plus if you like my blog, maybe you'll also like the blogs I like? It's kind of like a chain letter, only positive and with no dire threats for not participating. The blogs I chose inspire, entertain, make me think, spark my imagination, and warm my heart. Please take a peek at my 15 picks, listed below in no particular order:
I hope you have fun checking out these lovely blogs and talented bloggers. Karen, thanks again for finding me and nominating me and opening my eyes to new and exciting offerings in blogland. Hugs to you and to all my (31) faithful followers!
