Creating Journals and Memories

I just completed the Remains of the Day journal that was commissioned by Sue in Massachusetts.  Sue is a quilter who loves Hawaii and the color blue.  She sent me a packet of personal ephemera to add to the pages of her book, as well as some fabric that I used to create the cover, but what really touched my heart were the cards she saved from special people in her life.  Her mom, her sister, a good friend.  How wonderful to be able to add these treasures to her journal!  I had such fun creating this keepsake and I'm so grateful she trusted me with her precious memories.  I'm mailing it to her today and I can't wait to hear what she thinks.  I'm also grateful to Mary Ann Moss for her awesome class and inspiration.  Thanks to the Divine Ms. Moss, I now view EVERYTHING as fodder for a future project.
 And I love it.

I'll leave you with a few photos of Sue's journal:

  1. How cool to be commissioned to make a journal. So did having parameters by others make it easier or harder to put together?

  6. Amanda, it is cool but it does present a challenge. When someone buys a journal they know how it looks and they like it or they wouldn't buy it. When I custom make a journal it's up to me to get a feel for who the person is and what they want and then create it. I always wonder...what if they don't like it? Thankfully that hasn't happened yet!
